Agbeko keeps Bantam title

Joseph Agbeko beat Vic Darchinyan via a unanimous points decision to retain the IBF bantamweight title.

The Ghanaian drew blood as early as the second round but Darchinyan scored a controversial knockdown in the seventh despite appearing to push Agbeko down onto his knee.

More blood flowed from Darchinyan after a clash of heads late in the fight and the Armenian hit the canvas twice, though neither was ruled a knockdown.

And all three judges gave the verdict to Agbeko, who improved to 27-1, with one scoring it 116-111 in his favour and the other two 114-113.

Agbeko said: "This win means a lot to me. This is my time to shine. I prepared very well. I didn't prepare to be a champion for a short time."

Darchinyan, who is now 32-2, said: "He's not better than me but he was today."
