Cologne 1-3 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg came from behind to move two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table with a comfortable win at Cologne.

Fabrice Ehret gave Cologne the lead against the run of play four minutes after the break but a 73rd-minute strike from Edin Dzeko and a Pierre Wome own goal less than two minutes later put Wolfsburg ahead.

Obafemi Martins then scored a goal on his debut to seal an impressive comeback from the Wolves and spoil Lukas Podolski's Bundesliga return for Cologne.

Wolfsburg lively from the start as they penned Cologne back inside their own half from the outset.

Grafite missed a handful of chances to put the Wolves ahead and it looked like it may not be their day when Ehret gave the hosts the lead with their first attack of note in the 49th minute.

Alexander Madlung was caught napping as Ehret stole in between him and Diego Benaglio to send in a shot which the Wolfsburg goalkeeper was able to push away, but Ehret forced the rebound over the line.

Grafite missed another golden opportunity five minutes later when he put his shot wide from point-blank range.

And they almost fell further behind in the 68th minute when Podolski, who rejoined his hometown club this summer after three years at Bayern Munich, broke through, but he dragged his shot wide of the far post.

Wolfsburg breathed a sigh of relief and regrouped again to score two goals in under two minutes to turn the game on its head.

Dzeko was on target first to tuck Sascha Riether's cross in at the far post before Wome scored an unfortunate own goal from 10 yards out, heading into his own net as he looked to clear a Marcel Schafer cross.

Martins was introduced for his Bundesliga debut and he was soon on the scoresheet.

The new arrival from Newcastle cut into the penalty area from the left before placing a low shot beyond Faryd Mondragon into the far corner to seal the second win in a row for the defending Bundesliga champions.
