Recari ahead after record score

Beatriz Recari hit a course record 64 on the second day to open up a five-shot lead at the Finnair Masters.

The Spaniard built on her opening-round score of 65 by firing an eagle and six birdies at the Helsinki Golf Club today.

Recari heads into the final round with a healthy lead over Denmark's Iben Tinning.

She is keen to do better than last year, when she held the edge at the end of the opening day but eventually finished tied for third.

"I think I had a really bad experience in the second round when I dropped and let my leadership go," Recari explained.

"Overcoming that today, it was very important for me and has given me a lot of confidence for tomorrow."

Tinning had five birdies today but was let down by bogeys on the 13th and 16th as she recorded a second-round 68 on the par-71 course.

Johanna Westerberg of Sweden joins Tinning on eight under, with the pair one shot ahead of Norwegian Marianne Skarpnord and Becky Brewerton of Wales.

Westerberg hit 67s in both the first and second round, with three birdies and an eagle at the par-five 17th today.

Brewerton dropped a shot on the 15th, but birdies on the 12th, 13th, 14th and 17th helped the Welshwoman post 68 in the second round.

Skarpnord carded six birdies in her score of 67, with a double bogey on the 14th green her one blemish.
