Ein Frankfurt 1-1 Hamburg

Hamburg and Eintracht Frankfurt both maintained their unbeaten starts with a hard-fought draw.

Bruno Labbadia's side, who started the day top of the table, went ahead in the eighth minute through a Ze Roberto header but the hosts were on level terms after 31 minutes thanks to a Marco Russ volley.

Michael Skibbe's Eintracht have now drawn four of their seven league games to date.

Hamburg were keen to bounce back positively from a 3-0 Europa League defeat to Rapid Vienna and made the ideal start as Piotr Trochowski's cross from the right was headed home by Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto.

The lead could and perhaps should have been doubled on the half-hour mark when Trochowski led a counter-attack and with options to the left and right opted to go it alone and his 20-yard shot went high and wide.

Two minutes later Frankfurt were on level terms when Selim Teber's header on was watched carefully by Russ, who volleyed low and hard into the net.

Hamburg were the closest to taking a lead into the interval when Mladen Petric led a good break and crossed from the left but Ze Roberto was just unable to apply the vital touch.

The visitors threatened again five minutes into the second period when full-back Jonathan Pitroipa's snap-shot from 10 yards drifted just wide of the left-hand post.

Fifteen minutes later Ze Roberto's deflected shot struck the upright, but Dennis Aogo was adjudged to have strayed offside in the build-up in any case.

Frankfurt's final chances fell to Ioannis Amanatidis, who turned and found room for the shot but his effort was deflected wide with three minutes left and then Alexander Meier, whose free header was off-target.
