Gombak score Woodlands win

Gombak United ended a run of five consecutive draws with a 2-0 win over Woodlands Wellington at Jalan Besar Stadium.

Fifth-placed United have slipped off the pace at the top of the table recently following their strong start, and had not won since beating basement side Balestier Khalsa at the end of July.

But Gombak revived hopes of at least matching last year's fifth-placed finish as goals from striker Agu Casmir and a late penalty from Nigerian frontman Gabriel Obatola extended their unbeaten streak to eight games.

Casmi opened the scoring after 22 minutes and after Woodlands' Egyptian striker Zakaria Yousif and Gombak defender Jaslee Hatta were both sent off four minutes later, Obatola wrapped up the three points with seven minutes remaining.

Gombak moved level on points with fourth-placed Home United, who trail third-placed DPMM by just two points.
