Bangladesh enter Plate final

Bangladesh booked their berth in the Plate Championship final of the ICC U-19 WC with a 168-run win over Papua New Guinea at Palmerston North.

Bangladesh won the toss and posted a score of 253 in 49.4 overs. PNG bowlers gave their side a good start and got rid of the Bangladeshi openers, Anamul Haque and Soumya Sarkar, quickly. Bangladesh were teetering at 125 for six when Tasamul Hoque and Nur Hossain led the fight back, putting on 80 for the sixth wicket. Hoque and Hossain contributed 43 and 66 runs each.

Papua New Guinea, meanwhile, struggled against the Bangladeshi bowling attack and were all out for just 85 runs within 33 overs.

PNG lost both their openers with just 15 runs on the board. Their batsmen struggled against Alauddin Babu and Shaker Ahmed. Man of the match Nur Hossain cleaned up the PNG tail order, taking four for 11.
