Canada enter Plate semi-final

Canada entered the semi-finals of the Plate Championship of ICC U-19 World Cup after their match against USA was abandoned.

The quarter-final match between Canada and USA at McLean Park, Napier, was called off after three overs.

Canada advanced to the next stage as the higher qualifying team from the group stage. Canada finished third in Group C. USA, who finished fourth in Group B will now appear in play-off for 12th to 16th places.

USA had won the toss and elected to bat and were at a score of 13 without loss when the rain disrupted the match. Umpires Ian Ramage and Shahul Hameed decided to take the players off the field. Due to the continuous rain, the game could not be restarted in the allotted time and the match was abandoned.
