Papua New Guinea got the better of Afghanistan by 30 runs to book a place in the semi-finals of the U-19 WC Plate Championship.
In a low-scoring affair at the Napier, PNG could only post 173 for nine in their allotted 50 overs but they did well to bundle out Afghanistan for 143 in 37.3 overs.
PNG managed to play off their full quota of 50 overs with one wicket remaining at the end, as the wicketkeeper Steven Eno scored a brilliant unbeaten 55.
Eno put on 42 runs for the last wicket with Timothy Mou (27 not out) and that partnership made the difference in the end.
Aftab Alam of Afghanistan destroyed PNG's top and the middle orders with impressive figures of six for 33.
Chasing a modest total, Afghanistan got off to a poor start and they could never recovered from 40 for five.
Raymond Haoda finished with five for 35, while John Reva chipped in with three wickets.
