Nurnberg halted a run of five-successive Bundesliga defeats with a point at home to European qualification hopefuls Eintracht Frankfurt.
Christian Eigler fired the home side in front midway through the first half, only for Benjamin Kohler to bring Eintracht back on level terms before the interval.
The draw is not enough to lift Nurnberg out of the automatic drop zone, but they close the gap to four points on third-from-bottom Hannover, who were beaten at Mainz.
Eintracht sit seventh, with five points to make up on the Europa League places.
The visitors gave Nurnberg a scare with less than a minute on the clock when Christian Spycher found an unmarked Kohler in the area, but the forward screwed his shot over the bar from eight yards out.
Nurnberg were struggling to create anything of note until their first real chance of the match also produced the opening goal after 27 minutes.
Pascal Bieler curled a 30-yard free-kick into the box where Eigler rose above the Eintracht defence to head home from close range.
It was a welcome goal for a Nurnberg side who have found the net just 13 times this season, but their lead was wiped out five minutes before the break by Kohler, who powered in a header from a Patrick Ochs' cross.
The second half produced little in the way of entertainment for the crowd at the Commerzbank Arena, although Christoph Preuss should have done better after 65 minutes when he turned a pass from Ochs wide of the net.
Ilkay Gundogan had Nurnberg's best chance 11 minutes from time, but his right-footed strike from 16 yards cleared the crossbar.
