Phil Brown has confirmed that Alvaro Negredo could be joining Hull City from Real Madrid as early as this week.
Negredo is set to travel to the north west of England to discuss terms to his potential £12 million move to theTigers.
"Now that's out there, you're hanging out to dry, as a club that's trying to impress and trying to get better in the Premier League and now you're putting £12 million on the table. It opens the market up to everybody else," Brown told Sky Sports News.
"We've made reference to it and we can't hide that fact now. Fingers crossed, he's coming across Monday or Tuesday to talk to us."
Hull have missed out on numerous transfer targets this offseason, with transfers falling apart at the last possible moment. One good example was the Bobby Zamora deal, who declined a transfer to the KC Stadium after a £5 million deal was agreed between Hull and Fulham.
"Where Bobby was concerned, he came up to Hull and we just failed to agree personal terms," Brown explained.
"We had £5 million on the table for guy who scored four goals last year and got four assists for Fulham. But I always thought there was more to come where Bobby was concerned and lo and behold he gets the winning goal yesterday."
"If that could have been for us, we've got three points on the board."
